Our work in pictures

What each type of job we take on actually involves: heating, domestic hot water, plumbing, drain unblocking, power flushing and chimney sweeping. Flat €35 travel charge in Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders.

What you are looking at in these photos

This page shows the types of job we carry out day to day. Each card describes what the work really covers: what is removed, what is fitted, what is checked before we leave.

We would rather describe the work than tell stories. A boiler replacement or a power flush cannot be judged from a photo: it is judged on what was checked before, during and after.

Chauffitherm is a heating and sanitary company working since 2017, run by Abdelmajid El Makhoukhi. This page describes what we do, job type by job type.

Illustrative photos. They show the type of work described on each card, not an identifiable customer's job.

The stages of a boiler replacement

It is the biggest job on the list, and the one that worries people most. Here is how it goes, from the first call to handing over the documents.

  1. Survey and quote

We note the existing model, the type of flue, the output needed and the space available. The quote is based on that, not on an estimate over the phone.

  2. Preparation and isolation

Isolating the gas, water and electrical supply to the appliance, draining the relevant part of the circuit, protecting the floor and the work area.

  3. Removing the old appliance

The old boiler is taken off the wall, drained and carried out. We take it away: disposal at a treatment centre is part of the job.

  4. Fitting and connections

Mounting the new boiler, reworking the gas, water, heating and condensate connections, adapting or replacing the flue if the appliance requires it.

  5. Commissioning and documents

Filling, bleeding, setting up combustion, checking the safety devices, explaining how it and the thermostat work, then handing over the appliance's documents.

What changes once the job is finished

On a replacement as on a power flush, here is what you should see before we leave.

  • Radiators warm all the way up

If the bottom of a radiator stays cold, the circuit has not been bled or not been flushed. We do not leave it like that.

  • Stable hot water

Steady temperature and flow at the outlets, with no change when a second tap is opened.

  • An appliance set up, not just plugged in

Combustion is measured and adjusted. A new appliance that is badly set up uses more than an old one that is well maintained.

  • The documents in your hand

Service certificate, sweeping certificate or the appliance manual depending on the job, handed over on site.

The brands we install and service

We work daily on six boiler brands, for installation as well as servicing. Each has its own page: the models we come across most often, the common faults and what the annual service covers.

Frequently asked questions about our work

How long does a boiler replacement take?

A working day in most cases, when the appliance stays in the same place and the flue is suitable. If the flue has to be adapted, if the boiler moves position or if the circuit needs flushing, allow more. The time quoted is set out in the quote.

Does the whole system have to be drained?

Not always. For a boiler replacement, draining is often limited to the lower part of the circuit. Replacing radiators or power flushing, on the other hand, calls for a wider drain-down, followed by refilling, full bleeding and balancing.

Do I have to be there during the work?

At the start and the end, yes: at the start to show us the system and the isolating valves, at the end for commissioning, the explanations and handing over the documents. In between, you do not need to be there throughout.

Who takes away the old boiler?

We do. Removing the old appliance and taking it to a treatment centre is part of the job. You have nothing to carry or to drop off at the recycling centre.

Is there a warranty on the work carried out?

Appliances are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, whose length depends on the brand and model installed. The work carried out is guaranteed. The exact conditions are set out on the quote and then on the invoice.

Do you work in flats?

Yes, that is most of what we do in Brussels. We take the building's constraints into account: access via the stairwell, a shared flue, isolating valves in a communal cellar, permitted working hours. We flag anything that is the managing agent's responsibility before we start.
